I’m sitting here in the waiting area at St. Luke’s waiting for a friend to get out of surgery and these 2 images are battling in my head.

Just last week I was touring the mission hospital in India, which is the nicest facility for miles around. I have a range of thoughts that are hard to explain, from wasteful to thankful.

I’m thankful that I have ENOUGH and that I’ve been given the opportunity to see those who DON’T have ENOUGH.  The need in India is SO GREAT and I’m sure it’s the same in many many other countries. I don’t want to be the same consumeristic Chris that I’ve been before. There is so much I can do without… I want to give so that others may be able to do.

India - What’s God going to do this time?

A year ago I went to India on a 10 day mission trip to work with Central India Christian Mission (CICM).  God did some amazing things in me and through me.  The single biggest change was a decision to leave Boeing and writing software for the space program and take a developer position with LifeChurch.tv to work on YouVersion.

That single change has affected EVERY aspect of my life and I’m loving every minute of it.

In 3 days I’m leaving for another 10 day trip to India working with CICM.  This time it’s by invitation.  I’ve been asked to help expand their child sponsorship program by writing a web app for it.  During this trip I’m going to spend some time working with the people who will be using the app. I’ll also be spending time with other areas of the organization to see if I can help find areas where technology can assist them.

I don’t know what God is going to do in me and through me this time but if my last trip was any indication 2011 is going to be an amazing year!

I ask that you pray for me and other folks on the trip with me.  I ask that you pray for my wife and 5 month old son as they navigate life for 10 days without me.  I will miss them both terribly but I am excited to see the people of India and experience their love.

Also I’m looking forward to checking into the Taj Mahal on Gowalla!!! :)
